Hopes, dreams, passion, FASHION!

So I have been writing this blog for a while (almost up to 500 posts), but why? Well you can look to my slogan, “High fashion looks… On a college student budget” which explains my poor college student state of being. But why do I write about fashion every single day, and why should you care?

Fashion has always had a special place in my heart, but it didn’t start looking like a real career path until the show “What Not to Wear.” Stacy London and Clinton Kelly have spent 10 years helping women (and some men) realize that fashion is not only for the wealthy that wear a size 0. After watching WNTW I was inspired to help women use fashion to look and feel their best. As Clinton Kelly says in Oh No She Didn’t, “Just be the best, most authentic version of you!”

My goal with fashion is to make it accessible to anyone who wants it. Unlike the stereotypes of someone in fashion, I am not rich, nor do I have the ideal body. But who really does? It is possible to take fashion from the runways and mold it to your personal style no matter who you are. Which brings me to another point, your style is all your own. What you wear does not have to be what is considered trendy to still be stylish. Personally, I like to mix trends with classic piece. If it doesn’t make me happy then I don’t wear it. It is as simple as that! Why waste time wearing boring clothes that don’t make you happy?

Something that fashion and this blog specifically have done for me is keep me connected with friends, family, readers and my career. When I moved from Florida to Kentucky I left all of my friends behind. My daily blogs helped keep everyone I know involved in my new life. They also gave me the motivation to get dressed when I didn’t think that I had any reason to which lead to me being more adventurous in my new town. This pushed me to get more involved which is how I started working with a local fashion magazine. Even though it was hard leaving Florida, Kentucky has allowed to my further my career in the fashion industry.

How has fashion influenced your life?
