I finally had something to get dressed for besides work, school and church! Last night I went to my friend’s mom’s business’s banquet. Although I was not receiving any awards or prizes, I had a great time dancing with friends and meeting new people. Not knowing how much to dress up for this party, I went with night time business chic. This outfit is proof that is possible to be dressed appropriately for a night time party in the winter by being totally covered up, but still fun and fashionable at the same time.

Ask much as I love playing with colors, there is just something about going back to basic black and white that feels so timeless. A black blazer is a classic piece that is an easy throw-on to dress up an outfit. Under that was a black and white peplum top which was very flattering because it is fitted at the smallest part of my waist and then flairs out in the areas that I want to hide. For the pants I stayed with my black and white theme and wore tuxedo pants. Finally, I accessorized with black booties, my zebra bracelet, a gold necklace and rose gold envelope clutch. Some times it’s the simplest outfits that stand out the most!
