So I self-published a book. What’s next?
I spent over a year hiding this project from social media, but talking my friends’ ears off about the book. It felt like a shock to us all when the book was actually available for purchase! The amount of hoops that stand between writing content and having a copy-written book on Amazon are enough to make anyone’s head spin.
What I never fully planned for was all of the self-promoting that is required when stubbornly doing everything else by yourself. Even after blogging for years, nothing feels more selfish than constantly promoting my work. But at the same time, if I’m not going to do it, who will?
The outpouring of love that I have received brings tears to my eyes constantly. Every time I hear from someone that How To Be 23 hit home with them I remember why I wrote the book in the first place.
Since publishing I have recorded the audio for the audiobook, but once recording I felt like I hit a wall. I just couldn’t do anything else book related! (side note- if you’re into audio editing, I would love to hire out for just this one thing… Right now I should be working on that, but I’m over here instead.)
The real question that brought on this rant though is, what’s next? for almost two years now all of my dreams and aspirations have focused on this book. Right now I have a full time job and a published book, but what in the world is my project?!
Until I figure that out, I will just be enjoying the simple things in life like not having to wear a puffer coat anymore, and not having deadlines to meet!
