Today’s “10 commandments of fashion” blog is brought to you by MarthaJane a Doncaster Wardrobe Consultant!
The secret is to purchase the basics in the best quality your budget allows — the simpler the better! These basics include a well cut jacket, pencil skirt , straight leg pants (not skinny), a plain sheath dress, one or two cardigan sweaters, a white blouse or tee and a pair of jeans.
Using these items as your base you can then incorporate the latest trends — for example–a touch of lace, a ruched or print blouse or a leather (real or faux) cami. A good rule to follow is 3-5 tops for every bottom. The secret is to wear what you like and feel comfortable in — Not what someone who doesn’t know you dictates.
And don’t forget the accessories — this is where your personality shines.
For inspiration check out what the designers are creating. Some of my current favorites are — Rebecca Menkoff, Jason Wu, Chinese Laundry, Max Mara, Michael Kors, and Roberto Cavalli, just to name a few.
Following these simple basics, you too can be a “fashionista” while always being in style what ever the season.
