Cheers to 3 Years!

This month marks THREE years of living in NYC for me. In some ways this was the most “normal” year since moving here, with a regular schedule and no life-threatening sicknesses. But in so many other ways this has been the biggest milestone year of my entire life.

I wrote and self-published a freaking BOOK!! Everything else that I had done since moving was to assist in the growth of other people’s success. How To Be 23, as selfish as it sounds, was all for me. The intention of the book is to help make the transition from school to the “real world” smoother for young adults. My reality was that I needed to prove to myself that I could do more than tell people that I would write a book one day, I needed to actually do it.

There were so many highs and lows in the last year, but there is no point in dwelling in the negatives of the past. Instead I have pulled together pictures of the unforgettable moments that have happened in the last year. These are the moments that I never want to forget. They are also the building blocks of what I would like my future to look like, so maybe if I put it all out there, there will be no going back, only moving up.

My mom and I met for a long weekend in Cincinnati to edit How To Be 23 after I was done writing. It was a weekend filled with tears, laughter, and more work than either of us ever imagined. There is no one else I would have rather had that experience with.

December 19, 2018 I got my hands on the first ever hard copy of my self-published book and this picture of my grandma holding it brings tears to my eyes every time I look at it. “Hey look ma I made it” runs through my head constantly

Because I was so busy with the book I have nothing else fun to share before that

Once HTB23 came out, though, I celebrated big by watching the ball drop in Times Square with some of my best friends.

And then we all traveled to New Orleans together for Mardi Gras!

And other things were brewing quietly during this year… 🙂

I turned 25 and celebrated in the most sparkly way I could think of!

I rosé(ed) all day.

Shortly after I moved into a newly renovated apartment and celebrated by throwing on a pair of heels and listening to live music with part of my hard working moving team.

For Jay’s birthday we went zip lining and realized that we are definitely not outdoorsy people.

I am definitely better suited for cute outfits and concerts with the girls!

This year has been unforgettable, and I cannot wait to see where my 4th year in NYC takes me!

  1. I am so very proud of you Lauren. It still seems like it was yesterday that you and Jordyn were in your little school uniforms going to St. Patrick’s. I am so excited for you and all of your accomplishments. I am excited to follow your blogs and read about your amazing journey that you are on. Sending you lots of love.
