Buy the Shoes

What would you do if you knew today was your last day?

What would you do if you knew that you were on a shrinking timeline?

Did you avoid those questions because that’s not you? You have another 70 years to live so you’ll think about that at your retirement party?

I just recently lost someone that I didn’t think to keep in touch with because that’s what we have the rest of our lives for. No one is supposed to die at 28, but it happens every day.

I don’t know my timeline (although I hope it does extend 70+ more years), so what I learn from saying goodbye to someone who wasn’t given enough time is to use what time I have as efficiently as possible.

So many of us spend more time talking about what we want to do, but not enough time putting action behind our words. My biggest goal is to never be able to say “I wish I had done…”

Wear the outfit that may or may not actually match. The coat that you put on every day and then change into your practical coat? Make that one your go-to! If today is your last day I can tell you that you won’t be sitting in heaven thinking “Thank God I never wore those crazy boots!”

I actually bought these boots while I was laying in a hospital bed just moments after my team of doctors told me that they were going to bring in another team of specialist surgeons to talk to me. I felt like I wasn’t in control of my own life anymore and the only thing that I could do was actually buy the shoes that had been sitting in my cart for a week. If I could never feel like myself again, at least I’d have shoes that would make me look amazing!

Now that I am back to an even better version of myself I wear these boots with pride and thankfulness to those doctors that got me home so I could proudly strut the streets of NYC again.
