Starting from the bottom

(Favorite parts of my new room!)

As I write this I am sitting in a coffee shop waiting for my first day of intern styling.

I moved into my NYC apartment on Saturday, saw a Yankee’s game and went grocery shopping on Sunday, and then woke up ono 5 a.m. on Monday to start my first job.

The funny thing is that I wouldn’t want it any other way! No, I’m not getting paid. No, I’m not sure if I’m ready for this. But I am jumping in with both studded boot covered feet.

Just incase I thought I knew what to expect, this first job isn’t even on the island and it took me an over hour to get here on the subway. I may or may not have been shaking in my boots the entire way. Let’s get this day started and see where I end up!

Update: the “studded boot covered feet” was a bad idea. After 8 hours of standing, my feet were throbbing. I’m hoping to get my “NYC feet” in soon. If you can get sea legs, you can get NYC feet. Right? But, I started my first week here doing what I love, so I’m just going to buy a more practical pair of shoes and get right back to work. Luckily I’m in love with my tiny little apartment room, so I have a nice place to hide with my throbbing feet.

Until next time, don’t be afraid to dream.

  1. My dear Lauren, never ever wear your work shoes until you get to work 🙂 You must wear some sort of comfortable cute sneakers or walking shoes for the commute. I also find Clarks to have some cute comfortable dress shoes. Hope the first day was awesome albeit with throbbing feet!

    1. I just have to wear comfy shoes all the time as an intern, no cute shoes at all. Just bought a pair of cute sneakers though so I should be good to go now!
